The Evolution Series by Vanessa Wester is the story of “vampires” and their lives across the novels. The best way I can characterize this series is to say that it’s a bit old fashioned with a twist of modern. I thoroughly enjoy when an author can come up with a vampire series but make it it’s own. The Evolution series is that. Vanessa Wester writes her own beginning for how vampires came about. The series starts off with quite a few characters. It was a bit confusing at first, but I think that is okay given that questions and characters will be answered or revealed as the series plays out. Each book in the series is a nice long novel, which I really appreciate. I like Ms. Wester’s writing style. It’s sort of this old fashioned style that gives you the feel of a classical novel.
The characters in this series are very well developed and complex. You will get to know them well and truly. There is nothing underdone when it comes tom VM’s writing. I appreciated the struggles and relationships that were built into the series. The characters while otherworldly, were truly humanized. The dynamics amongst the characters was top notch. The world that Vanessa Wester created was really original and a whole new take on the vampire realm. It’s so hard to review an entire series because you don’t want to give away spoilers. So, I’m just going to say if you are a fan of vampires, and you like well written stories that are long and rich, this series is a really good place to find your next read.
