Lost in Rewind is the third book in the Audio Fools Series. It’s the story of Jeffrey, who was mentioned briefly throughout the series. The author, Tali Alexander, was kind enough to send me Love in Rewind (Book 1) and Lies in Rewind (Book 2). Each book can be read as a stand alone. However, I suggest you read the entire series just to have a better understanding of the characters. The entire series really evolves well, and each book becomes more intense as you go along. I liked that. I was a bit worried when I found out that Jeffrey would be the main character in the third book (just from reading previous books), Lost in Rewind, but I was pleasantly surprised. Jeffrey has just lost his wife to illness. His life has not turned out to meet the expectations he had. He’s trying to figure out what that means and how exactly he’s supposed to move on. It is written with a Dual POV of Jeffrey and Kali.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As I mentioned before, the entire series evolved and I love how Tali Alexander made each story it’s own. Lost in Rewind has a great story line and starts with Jeffery at his worst. He’s searching for answers as to why fate isn’t following the path as it’s been promised to him. I’m a big sucker for angst, and the books starts off with just the right amount of it. You understand the motivations behind Jeffrey’s behavior and you actual feel his heart break.
Jeffery sets off to find the answers to his questions and runs into Kali. It’s an instant connection between the two. This book is an instalove story, which I love. However, there are a few twists and turns to this story. Yes, Jeffrey and Kali have this connection but they must make it through some things first. I was pleasantly surprised that the story didn’t make you, as the reader, a passive bystander. When you are reading this, you are going to have some “wait a minute” moments.
All in all, this book is well written. The characters are real and believable and they are each dealing with loss. They are both searching to find out who it is they really are. I also have to note as a person who loves paranormal books (which this isn’t) that I loved the idea of the fortune teller predicting a future, but letting the characters find out what fate really means. I love how the characters made mistakes and made their own assumptions. They are human after all. It just makes the story more real, and you are better able to connect to the characters.
This book receives 4 stars from me. It was a nice end to the series. At this time, I would like to note that I also really enjoyed the series. The series is a four star over all for me. I love how Tali Alexander made each book match the characters in it. So, in Love in Rewind, we find an innocent young girl. It’s sort of a fairytale romance…not without angst and steam. You’ll need a fan. Book 2, Lies in Rewind, I loved. Its about a complicated character whose lies catch up to her in the end. Book 3, Love in Rewind, we find broken characters trying to make sense of things.
